Totally Random

The following 3 things {I feel like} have been consuming my thoughts for the last week:
  • Deciding on the baby bedding/nursery...

  • Determining all that I need to register for...

  • Actually going to start registering!

Don't get me wrong...I am not lying in bed all night long thinking about these things, but just feel like any free second that I have to just rest is being consumed by thoughts that I need to get my "plan" {or lack there of at this point} into action!

As far as the baby bedding goes, I have found 3 or 4 sets that I really like on the Mod Pea Pod website. I am not really {at all} a theme person so I feel like it is hard for me to imagine what I want the nursery to look like. The fact that I have never had a child before also makes it hard because I don't want the room to look like all Natalie, I want it to look like a nursery {obviously}. I don't even know if that previous sentence made any sense at all, but what I am trying to say is that I want it to look like a nursery for our sweet little boy...not like any other room in my house just with a crib??!!??

When I started thinking about the nursery in the beginning I felt like if I just picked out the bedding first, it would all fall into place after that. Now that I have found some bedding that I like I think about the accessories to make it all come together...I am a mess! I know that it will for sure come together soon, I'm just going to continue the online research. Do you know of any cute nursery idea websites??

Then there's the registry...what do I need to take care of this sweet child of mine??!!?? I decided last night that I am just going to have my best friend go once with me then have my sister come with me to register that way I cover all my bases. I have been compiling a list of all the things that I am pretty sure that I need...well last night while reading the list to my sister she knocked at least 5 items off the list, ha! I think I am just going to leave this one up to the "professionals," the girls that already have babes! Of course any input you have on items that are a must would be greatly appreciated!!

I hope that everyone is having a great week so far! Happy Wednesday tomorrow...we're almost halfway there, yay!

  1. Hi there. Stopping by from Jenna's.

I'm not a Mommy yet so I have no experience with nurseries or baby registries.

I saw a cute set at Babies R Us recently that was Dr. Seuss. I loved it! Not sure if you are a Dr. Seuss fan. I also just love nurseries that are very colorful. You could do tons of different colors together. Just some ideas from a non-Mommy.

  2. Make sure you get/register for a breast pump. I didn't and had my mother in law go get one for me when we came home from the hospital. It's a lifesaver!

  3. Over from Jenna's! We looked up a list (from Baby Center, I think) of things to register for and there were so many things on the list I would have never thought of! Best of Luck!

  4. Picking out a theme for a nursery is hard work! For my son our theme was the Rainforest, and we used lots of greens and browns. It turned out really well. By the way, I'm here from Jenna's Blog Hop. One thing I would recommend you put on your registry is a Diaper Genie (and TONS of refills). The refills are a little pricey, but it's worth it to not have a poop smell in your trash can and house all the time.

  6. I am right there with you! Registering is HARD! I don't want a bunch of extra stuff that we won't need, but how do you know?? I think you're smart to enlist your sister and friend. Good luck! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the nursery!

  8. hey Natalie, thanks for stopping buy my blog. To answer your question, oddly enough we got it from diapers.com. They are affiliated with a few other baby distributors and that's where I found it for 199!

  9. I'm so happy that you are having a boy!! They are so sweet and cuddly!! I want to see the bedding that you pick out. With my first, I totally changed everything in the room once she was here. I tried to make it neutral than realized once she was here that she deserved pink!! ha!

Definitely use the girls that have been through this before! The more recent- the better! ha!

  10. It is so fun to shop for bedding & nursery designs & registries! But yes, it can be a bit stressful - I'm a planner and it stressed me out too, especially with my first. I always picked out the bedding first and then coordinated the nursery according to that - it seems easiest.

As for the registry, it's a great idea to take your friends. And the other thing is you don't really need everything on those "Registry Must-Have Lists." A lot of that stuff isn't necessary, you'll never use it, and is a waste of money. But that's where bringing your friends will come in handy!

I can't wait to see what you do pick out for your bedding! :)

  11. I'm over from Jenna's Journey.
Have you looked at the Show Us Your Life on Kelly's Korner? She did one on baby nurseries with links to everyone's nursery pictures. You could get a bunch of ideas from there.

  12. Hi! I came over from Jenna's link up. It's so hard to register, especially the first time. I remember thinking I had waaaaay too many receiving blankets, then my son turned out to be the super pooper and we went through 5 or 6 blankets a day! I was glad to have all of them! I want to see what you choose on a nursery. I'm out of that phase now, but it still makes me happy to see sweet little baby rooms. As far as decorating? The only advice I have is pick material that you love because you will spend a lot of time in there. I smiled everytime I went in my daughter's room.

  13. OK, so it just so happens that I was at Baby Emporium last night and saw the cutest bedding sets ever and they made me think of you! They also had some of the cutest and softest blankets and other goodies. You should go check it out - it's not far from your house. It's the same place I got Mikenzie's bedding when she was teeny. Let me know if you don't know where it's at.
